For Gould / SEL / Encore Minicomputer Systems

Need to replace your legacy lineprinter with a modern printer?

Model DC-1-Gould printer interface adapter converts the 50 pin style interface to more common Centronics Parallel.

This adapter has been installed in over ten Gould / SEL systems with great success. It has mainly been used in flight simulator and power plant systems.

Just "Plug-in" -No settings required. Works with high speed lineprinters over 600 LPM
Can be used with dot matrix, line, and laser printers. Output interface works with IEEE-1284 Centronics printer interfaces.
Popular use with CAE Flight Simulators.

Other minicomputers which may use the 50 Pin connector style are: - Digital PDP-11 - Digital VAX
- Gould/SEL/Encore 32/67, 32/77, 32/97
- Data General MV

Connecting print cable to a PC:

    Eliminates printer
Printout is available in PC folder for archiving, re-printing and network access.
Consider using Model DC-1 with Model CS-ZN to completely eliminate the printer and
send the print data to a PC Serial COM Port.

The PC can automatically log the print data using popular and inexpensive terminal software
such as Windows HyperTerminal or Tera Term. The terminal software will not display the printer graphics, however the graphics and text data is recorded to a folder. Also,
the folder file data can be sent to a compatible printer at a later
date by printing the file, eg. DOS command: >COPY C:RECORD.TXT PRN

Graphics data may require processing to display on screen as .bmp , .pdf , etc.
The user may develop such software or existing conversion software may exist, eg. ANSI graphics print emulation to .pdf or Printronix print emulation to .pdf

About Gould-SEL:
The Gould-SEL 32/87 from the 1980's was designed to handle real-time simulation tasks, where very high speed processing of large amounts of data is required. It could be used for mathematical modelling and simulation for use with commercial and military flight simulators. Gould Computer Systems Division took over SEL in 1980. Encore Computer Corporation bought them in 1988. Encore ended their operations in 2003. Still at this date many Gould/SEL minicomputer systems exist in full operation. This is because specialized long life systems are required by military, aviation, and power plants. Photologic Ltd. has supplied the DC-1 adapter at such sites for the last ten years.
