The Thermochron iButton is a complete temperature data logger encased in a rugged stainless steel case. It contains a digital thermometer, a calendar clock, a battery, and memory to log temperature samples for a typical period of 34 days.
It withstands harsh environments of dirt, water, grease, freezing, and rough physical treatment. It can be reused over and over, - with a service life of 3 to 10 years.

You can program these functions in the Thermochron:
Sample
Rate: Choose from 1 minute to 255 minutes. The Thermochron will store
up to 2,048 samples. So a 1 minute sample rate will allow you to record for
1.4 days, and a 255 minute sample rate, for 362 days.
Mission Delay: You can delay the start of
the mission, eg.
6 hours.
Rollover: If this function is enabled, the
2,048 reading memory will be overwritten. Rollover begins at the beginning
of memory. This is a useful feature as there will always be a record of the
last 2,048 readings when you view the memory.
User Label: You can store an alphanumeric
label in the Thermochron to provide quick identification (eg. "Freezer",
"Bag 6", "Vaccine3").
Time: The date and time from the Palm
clock is loaded into the Thermochron when launched, (eg. m/d/y "01/24/2002
09:08:26 am")
